Random Rippling - Red Key Tavern neon sign
posted: Aug. 19, 2016
After a year of planning and fundraising organized by Michael Thierwechter, the classic Red Key Tavern neon sign has been updated. The new sign is made of aluminum to last for years. All of the neon was duplicated. The sign body was artistically painted to exactly match the original weather-beaten sign, complete with "missing paint" and "rust streaks".
A sign lighting celebration was held on the sidewalk at the 52nd and College tavern on August 12, 2016, at 9pm. Mickey Levy, owner of Sign Services (many may remember him as "Mickey The Beeper King"), was on-site during the installation to make sure it went smoothly.
