State Fair may open sans train
As reported last issue, the State Fair may have no train this year. My sources tell me that the operator of the train, the Indiana Transportation Museum (ITM), is working closely with the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority (HHPA) with the goal of running the Fair Train this year. Unfortunately, no final decision has been made by the HHPA.


Bridgeview students learn healthy eating tips from Patachou
The Patachou Foundation sponsored an event for Bridgeview school students recently to teach them about healthy eating habits, portion sizes, where food comes from, and more. The events were held on the Monon Trail near the mini-vegetable garden along the trail.


Gather round the campfire at Holliday Park
Holliday Park has a lot of fun events coming up including:
Family Friday Night Campfires: National S'mores Day! - Fun family Friday night adventure around the campfire. Each night focuses on a different topic, starts around the campfire, and ends with a hike. Roasting sticks and s'mores provided, bring your own hot dogs and make a meal of it. Small Wonders Preschool Program: Ladybugs - Learn easy ways to engage your preschooler in nature and encourage their curiosity in the natural world. A new topic will be introduced each class through hands-on activities, hikes and stories, with take-home ideas for continuing the exploration at home. Classes are designed for children ages 3-4 and their caregiver. Sign up for an individual class or all of them for a discounted price! Create & Decorate Workshops: Nature Journals - Make unique crafts and discover interesting new techniques. Each class focuses on a different art project.
