BR Pool abruptly closes Sundays
BR Pool is now closed Sunday. Ronnetta Spalding of Indy Parks explained that there is a life guard shortage this year.
Rather than close the pool altogether, they are closing the BR pool on Sundays. Some city pools were closed two days per week.
Per Ms. Spalding:
Lifeguards are in great demand, and Indy Parks is not the only group experiencing shortages. We continue to interview and place new lifeguards as people apply, go through training and are ready for service. We still do not have enough lifeguards to be fully staffed at every pool.
As such, the "closed days" allow us to keep pools open for the entire summer with slight schedule modifications.
Some of the other pools will have two closed days instead of one. We will follow this schedule throughout the summer.
The revised hours are Monday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. , Sunday: Closed
(Still, working people only have weekends to use the pool since it closes at 6 p.m. week days. The pool also closes altogether on August 7. )

Broad Ripple Village Association at Pride
BRVA had a float and booth at the Indy Pride festival this year. It was a fun day and BRVA Board members turned out.

Bus routes changed
IndyGo's new transit center opened June 26, 2016, and this means big changes to the two routes serving BR.

The #18 has been totally re-routed. It now goes to Butler. Going north, it only goes to the mall.
The #17 now skips Kessler. (Half the routes went to Glendale then to BR.)

IndyGo bus route change
New exhibits at Art Center feature Midwest and student art
New art exhibits at the Indianapolis Art Center include student art as well as Midwest artists. The SMART graduating class was honored recently at the exhibit opening. These teen artists consisted of 20 youth and 20 mentors in a one year program to promote art.

New Orleans jazz comes to the Ripple
New Orleans style jazz was on full display one Friday night at the BR McDonalds. Winners included employees plus customers who took an Instagram picture which included a frozen strawberry lemonade. Grand prize was a free trip to New Orleans.
