Reader cautions on train to Chicago given bus-rail station issues
If you have read my column, you know I have been a promoter of the passenger rail service to Chicago. However, a reader complained that the ride was fine but the Indianapolis Bus Rail Station (aka Union Station) is a mess, including the restrooms. While the city operates both our airport and bus-rail station, they have outsourced the bus-rail station to Greyhound and indeed the two facilities couldn't be more different. Please let our new mayor and civic and tourism leaders know that Indy needs to put a welcoming face on our bus-rail station, 330 S. Illinois. It couldn't be more convenient (steps to downtown and Lucas Oil Stadium as well as the convention center) but it needs some TLC. Denver - which operates its rail station - just remade it into a transit hub that also included restaurant and shops. We can do this.
