Did you know that there is now a Broad Ripple Winter Farmers Market? And it's indoors! The Winter Market started in December and has been wonderful. It is tucked in to the Bent Rail Brewery and features vegetables, honey, oils, cheeses, meats, eggs, baked goods, live music, and more. And you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and a Bloody Mary while you're there.
Check out the website (listed below) for a weekly list of vendors. There is plenty of parking in the lot next to the brewery (try to leave the spaces on the street for the residents). And heads up - no non-service doggies allowed, it is a restaurant space.

Jazz guitarist Charlie Ballantine just finished recording his sophomore album, Providence, and he's looking forward to sharing the music with you. The band is: Amanda Gardier (alto sax), Charlie Ballantine (guitar), Josh Espinoza (keys), Conner Green (bass), and John Roberts (drums). Charlie promises that good musical things will happen - and I believe him!

I haven't been to an Indy Fuel Hockey game yet - this seems like the perfect opportunity. Not only is it Broad Ripple Village Night, you get to throw rubbers ducks on to the ice. Although as I understand it, you should wait until after the game to start chucking the ducks.
Friday, January 22, 2016, will be official Broad Ripple Village Night at the Indy Fuel Hockey Game. BRVA members and Village supporters may purchase discount tickets at this link: https://tickets.indyfuelhockey.com/order/seats/360/ or visit the Broad Ripple Village Association's Facebook page or pop into the BRVA office (6323 Guilford Ave.) and ask Brooke to point you in the right directions.
The Fuel will be playing the Quad City Mallards, so it is the perfect time to play Chuck-a-Duck. You can purchase official Broad Ripple rubber ducks at the game and then throw them at targets on the ice (again, after the game!) to win prizes from Broad Ripple Merchants. I can't wait!
Not-for-profit director by day, music writer by night, Nora Spitznogle reviews music that happened and previews music and events around Broad Ripple Village. Nora managed CATH Inc coffeehouse at 54th Street and College Avenue for seven years. During that time she hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians, both at the coffeehouse and her home. When CATH closed in 2004 and the music was no longer coming to her, she had to wander from her corner of Broad Ripple to see what is happening elsewhere. You can find her at Second Helpings during the work day, waitressing at the Red Key on Saturday nights and prowling Broad Ripple music venues the rest of the time.
