2 on Memory
I wrote the following two poems on September 15, 2015. The second poem is about Greg Brown. He passed in 2012. Greg owned Utrillo's Art Gallery in Indianapolis. I will always remember him for helping homeless artists sell their work.
the memory
fades and fades and fades
then it hangs there
its essence remains
palpable only in the ether
fragile and fleeting
swimming and floating
and constantly
vaguely emoting
it is always a good time
to resurrect
the dead

To: Greg Brown
his photograph
is push-pinned prominently
in the sacred space
in my room
i do not feature greg brown
merely to evoke his memory
or to pay tribute to
the patron saint of impoverished artists
his photograph
is here
so that greg brown
may live with me
and the
humble gentle man
may reside
within me
