The 56 and 5700 block of Broadway had a combined block party celebrating Labor Day on Sunday September 6th, 2015. Pulled pork and pulled chicken was catered by Black Diamond BBQ (64th/Binford) while the neighbors pitched in and brought salads, and desserts. Broadway's very own Nick Zyromski and his band played while neighbors visited, meeting new faces on the block. We were joined by the men of Fire Station 16 who came as our guests for dinner. The children had fun seeing the fire truck, playing kick ball in the street, blowing bubbles and dancing to the music. The adults had a fun and friendly corn hole tournament. The evening was a big success getting neighbors out of their homes and a chance to build community among those who live on our streets.
