2015 INDIANA STATE FAIR
posted: Aug. 21, 2015
It was a great, great Indiana State Fair. We saw Garrison Keillor, Indigo Girls, CCR, knights jousting, hot air balloons glowing at night, the Indiana Bicentennial Train (two BRG photos are displayed inside!), two miniature farms, ate corn dogs, sausages, beef sundaes, and spiral-cut potatoes, rode the soy biodiesel tractor shuttle around and around, and saw a nearly 1100 pound pumpkin. It was the Year of the Farmer. My cousin Archie Kerr was in the parade on his Farmall tractor.
I am already looking forward to next year!

2nd place ribbon for Linda Ohlman
After retiring from Indianapolis Public Schools, Gazette reader Peg Simpson won a 2nd place ribbon for her hand-pieced, hand-quilted king sized quilt she has been working for the past 3 years. The pattern is called Cathedral Window. It is a compilation of the many fabrics she has used over the years.
Snickerdoodles by our own Nora Spitznogle (Buzzing Around Town) won a 3rd place ribbon. Nora also got a 4th place for a PEZ dispenser and 4th place in the ugly lamp competition.
