Buzzing Around Town

11th Annual Sausagefest
Friday, August 21 & Saturday, August 22, 2015
St. Thomas Aquinas
46th & Illinois - free, all ages, 5:30 PM - Midnight
This is the 11th year for - or "double sausages," as I'm been visualizing - for Sausagefest. As you might guess there is sausage, beer, pretzels, wine, bottled water, soda, gourmet sides, and desserts.
There are plenty of things for children to do, including a cake walk, nickel pitch, bounce house, face-painting and hair (temporary) coloring.
New for this year is a concert for teens by the School of Rock. Heads up, kids - chaperones provided!
Here is the Main Stage (parking lot) musical line up.

Friday, August 21, 2015
5:45 - Fabulous SausageKings
6:30 - Jon Martin and Gary Wasson
7:20 - Jonless Martins (Denise and Meghan Martin uke it up)
7:45 - Mars or the Moon
8:45 - Chad Mills and The Upright Willies
9:45 - Streaker

Saturday, August 22, 2015
4:30 - Mass (in the church)
5:30 - Staff Infection (instructors from the School of Rock)
6:15 - The Jeremy Vogt Band
7:15 - Dugan Brothers
8:15 - Midtown Mad Men
9:30 - CaCa Caliente

State Fair...the Indiana Musical!
Friday, August 21, 2015, 6:00 PM
Saturday, August 22, 2015, 6:00 PM
Indiana State Fair
Pioneer Village, Opry House - all-ages, free with Fair adm.
The musical is a blast - I giggled all the way through. The play highlights Indiana State Fair traditions - pie contests, food, swine competitions, music (The Beatles!) and romance, of course - from the beginning of the Fair through the 1960s.

Not-for-profit director by day, music writer by night, Nora Spitznogle reviews music that happened and previews music and events around Broad Ripple Village. Nora managed CATH Inc coffeehouse at 54th Street and College Avenue for seven years. During that time she hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians, both at the coffeehouse and her home. When CATH closed in 2004 and the music was no longer coming to her, she had to wander from her corner of Broad Ripple to see what is happening elsewhere. You can find her at Second Helpings during the work day, waitressing at the Red Key on Saturday nights and prowling Broad Ripple music venues the rest of the time.
