Below are two poems I wrote on May 9, 2015. They feature the differing tempos of 2 great American sports.

2 on tempo

the shot clock
does not offend me
the fast break
does not frighten me -
some rituals are
built for speed

baseball blows in
where they play baseball
they play dominoes -
baseball never made it
around the world
but the places
it made it to
are nice -
can you feel
the island breeze?
