POST PATRIOTIC PALATE
Since I learned that the biggest beer drinking day of the year in the US is the 4th of July-I think it's ok to go back to wine this weekend. But in that spirit-some reds and whites that won't give you the blues.
And they are easy to find. Grocery store wines have come a long way in a short time. Costco, Trader Joe's, ALDI, and the big name grocers all now carry tasty, affordable wines from all over the world.
REDS
Alamos Seleccion Malbec, Argentina-Rich, robust, ripe. A smooth dry finish with notes of cedar, spice and black fruit.
Columbia Winery Merlot, Washington-Smooth dry red with fresh notes of plum and a hint of cocoa.
WHITES
Matua Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand-alluring aromas and flavors of grapefruit and lime-just enough zip and tang to wake up but not overwhelm the palate.
Meiomi Chardonnay, California-smooth creamy white with fresh notes of tropical fruit.
