Scott Shoemaker is the banner artist in this issue. Scott has been painting and drawing for over 30 years. He usually paints in acrylics, but also enjoys stippling in pen and ink. He is a wildlife enthusiast and works as the signage specialist for the Indianapolis Zoo.
A few years ago a red back squirrel took up residence in Scott and his wife Cindy's mini barn. The squirrel had already been displaced since the old tree he was living in had to be cut down. On the day of discovery Scott found that every container in his mini barn had been filled with walnuts. Flower pots, fertilizer spreader, lawn mower bag, buckets, walnuts were everywhere! Knowing that winter was coming soon, Scott built a two-story squirrel house complete with front porch behind the barn and moved the walnuts. The squirrel liked his house, but still chews his way back into the barn.
