Friends of Holliday Park honors Fry
Shirley Fry, a retiring member of the Friends of Holliday Park board, was honored on September 19, 2014, at a breakfast in her honor. Fry, as the chair of the board's Rock Garden committee, has coordinated volunteers, master gardeners and novices alike, through a labor and learn program sponsored by the Friends which helps maintain and enhance the historic rock garden.
Lisa Hurst hosted the event (which included a garden tour) at her garden home. Hurst-a member and former president of the Friends board-also thanked horticulturalist Chris Turner who directs the volunteer gardening group (and gives training sessions during gardening breaks). In her remarks, Fry said Holliday Park is a great community resource which also educates people about plants. Other Friends Board members in attendance included Tricia Lautenbach, Sesie Kunz, and Ruthie Linsmith.
