Query Corner - Canoes at Broad Ripple Park

Do any readers remember renting canoes at Broad Ripple Park back in the 1930s and 1940s? We recently saw a photo that appeared to show a "canal" perhaps going from the White River east toward the Olympic-sized swimming pool.
