Historic Ad - Heathkit
posted: Jul. 11, 2014
This ad for Heathkit ran in 1983. Heathkit was a store for geeks like me, offering build-it-yourself electronic kits and computers. The store was near Glendale at 2112 Broad Ripple Avenue. Today, Dr. Sue's Neighborhood Veterinarian and Supercuts is at this location [HH31 on map].
I owned one of the Z-100 computers, similar to the H-100 in the ad. It cost over $2,000, had no hard drive, just 2 floppy drives, and about 512 kilobytes (not gigabytes!) of RAM. It ran CP/M instead of MSDOS. That computer is currently featured in the AMC series Halt and Catch Fire.
