Electric car sharing headed to the Ripple
Did you just miss your bus from downtown back to Broad Ripple (like I did last Saturday) and don't feel like waiting for the next one (which was over an hour later). Do you want to avoid the $20+ taxi fare to the Ripple?
Soon you will have a third option -- you can use Indy's new electric vehicle car sharing system to get home. Called BlueIndy, the electric vehicles are already in service at 100 E. Washington downtown. In a partnership with the City and Bolloré Group of France, Indianapolis is rolling out a new electric vehicle car sharing service. One of the stations will be in Broad Ripple. Another will be at 86th and the Monon Trail, and at Keystone Fashion Mall.
The Bolloré electric vehicle car sharing program has been a big hit in Paris, Lyon (France), and London. Indy is the first city in North America to receive the program.
The program will be funded via a $16 million rate increase request by IPL. The case is currently pending before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. For more information, see the press release at www.indy.gov
