Primary election May 6:
The primary election will be held May 6. Races of interest to Broad Ripple:
Congresswoman Susan Brooks, faces 2 Republican challengers in the primary in her party.
(Broad Ripple used to be in the District served by Congressman Andre Carson until recently.) 3 Democrats are vying to face her in the fall.
They are insurance broker David Stockdale (www.restoreyourliberty.com) and Mike Campbell (who ran in 2008 and 2010 according to Politics1.com). (No website found for Campbell.)
Brooks' website is www.susanbrooksforcongress.com. She sent me a flyer saying she wants to slash wasteful government spending, co-sponsored an Act to cut government red tape, supports the Keystone Pipeline, and voted to repeal Obamacare.
For a summary of the 3 candidates on the Republican ticket, try http://currentinwestfield.com/2014/3-republicans-bid-for-congress/
Three Democrats are running in the primary to replace her:
Allen Davidson, Highway Engineer with INDOT
David Ford, a USAF veteran
Shawn Denney, a teacher.
You can find all three on Facebook.
Libertarian John Krom is also running on the Libertarian ticket according to www.politics1.com/in.htm. This site summarizes all the above candidates as well.
State Representative Christina Hale to face Mike Friedman in November House Race for the Indiana House in District 87 which serves our area, incumbent first term State Representative Christina Hale (D) is un-opposed in the primary.
Her Republican challenger will be Mike Friedman (R) who is the only Republican running in the primary and will face her in November. Friedman is a real estate developer.
