Round the Ripple header

We have a lot going on in the Ripple.

College Avenue Closes April 8
A sign at 75th and College proclaims that College Avenue will be closed south for a half mile beginning April 8, 2014.
North of that area, the Department of Public Works also notes that College Avenue will be closed through September 14, 2014 for bridge replacement over Williams Creek and brush and tree removal. However, as of press time, the road was down to one lane (and not closed).
Detours:
  • 7725 N College Avenue, ROAD CLOSURE March 20 through September 14, 2014 for bridge replacement over Williams Creek & tree/brush removal.
  • DETOUR NORTHBOUND: W on 75th Street, N on Meridian Street, E on 86th to College Avenue.
  • DETOUR SOUTHBOUND: W on 86th Street, S on Meridian Street, E on 75th Street to College

Westfield Tree Stump Art Work Ever Changing
Have you enjoyed the paintings on the tree stump just north of 71st Street on Westfield Avenue?
Each week or so there is a different drawing. We've had green clovers for St. Patrick's Day, a red heart for Valentine's Day, and more. Now the stump has a tulip painted on it. Thanks to the mysterious nature artist. Holliday Park Happenings

This week's travel: Illinois and Wisconsin
This week we are off to Wisconsin and Illinois for a long weekend.
Don't miss the Milwaukee Art Museum on Lake Michigan (www.mam.org)
Getting to Milwaukee from Chicago is half the fun. 7 trains a day on Amtrak from Chicago take just 90 minutes and make only 3 stops. (Tickets at www.amtrak.com).
In Madison, the Olbrich Gardens and UW Arboretums are a must.
The Overture Center in Madison has great shows.
Rent a bicycle and ride all over town with their shared bicycle program. (Bring a helmet and use the bike for short trips to tour the downtown as the rate goes up after 30 minutes. However, you can get another bike for 30 minutes without charge.)
Stop by the UW Memorial Union for a beer or some Babcock Hall homemade ice cream.
Enjoy the free Henry Vilas Zoo on Lake Wingra.
Hike out to Picnic Point on Lake Mendota.
In Chicago, celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field. The Cubs season opens this month.
The architecture tours on the Chicago River resume April 5, 2014 (www.architecture.org/tours/boat-tours). Is there a better city for architecture?
Take Amtrak, Greyhound Express, or MegaBus to Chicago from Indy (and hop on the #17 or #18 bus from Broad Ripple to get you down to Union Station).
