Thursday, January 30, 2014
Vogue Theater
6259 N. College Avenue
21+, doors 7:00, show 8:00, $26 presale, $28 day of show
I totally have a musical crush on Neko Case. She's a fabulous songwriter, funny as heck, and always puts on a great show. And she's been nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award, for her record "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You" in the Best Alternative Music Album category. The Grammy's are January 26 in Los Angles so hopefully she'll be on the Vogue stage as a Grammy winner and have the statue with her. If I won an award like that I'd carry it everywhere and sleep with it under my pillow.

Saturday, February 1, 2014
The Jazz Kitchen
5377 N. College Avenue

What a great lineup! Brenda Williams, Bashiri Asad, Goldie, Wendy Reed will be showing off their incredible talent. The women will be backed by a stellar band made up of pianist Zack Lapidus, bassist Frank Smith and drummer Kenny Phelps. You can expect an entertaining night of jazz standards and beyond.

Not-for-profit director by day, music writer by night, Nora Spitznogle reviews music that happened and previews music and events around Broad Ripple Village. Nora managed CATH Inc coffeehouse at 54th Street and College Avenue for seven years. During that time she hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians, both at the coffeehouse and her home. When CATH closed in 2004 and the music was no longer coming to her, she had to wander from her corner of Broad Ripple to see what is happening elsewhere. You can find her at Second Helpings during the work day, waitressing at the Red Key on Saturday nights and prowling Broad Ripple music venues the rest of the time.
