Crime on the Monon: Teens attack jogger, IMPD offers safety tips
On October 7, 2013, police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile and an 18-year-old after the two robbed a woman on the Monon Trail in the 3500 block of the Trail at 7:30 p.m. The jogger told police that two men came up to her. One pointed a silver gun to her face and said get on the ground. He then demanded her cell phone. The man took the phone and also her can of mace. A police officer spotted them near 30th Street and Guilford Avenue and arrested them. (Source: WISH TV and the Indianapolis Star). IMPD has the following suggestions to stay safe on the Monon Trail:
• Be aware of your surroundings at all times. If something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
• Use the buddy system.
• Do not use the trail after dark alone. Don't make yourself an easy target.
• Leave valuables at home. If you must bring them with you, lock them in the trunk of your car.
• If you are wearing headphone, only use one of the ear buds.
• Have a cell phone with you in case you need to call for help.
• Make sure someone knows where you will be in case of an emergency.
• Don't fight with attackers.
New BR Hotel coming soon

The nine room hotel will also feature a lounge/bar which will be open to the public. Guests will be just steps from the Village's restaurants and shops.

You can take the train to Union Station in Chicago and back for around $48. Leave at 6 a.m. and return Chicago at 5:45 p.m. local time.
