Heard it on the Grapevine.....
Pour a glass of wine and enjoy the latest book by Indiana's own Dr. Richard Vine. "The Curious World of Wine: Facts, Legends, and Lore About the Drink We Love So Much" is chock full of "wow!" stories and anecdotes. It's a page turner as Dr. Vine has spent plenty of time and research uncovering the true story behind wine. And the fun stuff too. Available at local wine shoppes or on line at Amazon.com
Another new wine book focuses on the person drinking the wine rather than the juice in the glass. "Why You Like the Wines You Like" by Tim Hanni kind of turns a lot of previous beliefs about wine upside down. Is the glass half full or half empty? Think twice after reading this book. Also available at Amazon.com
Local wineries including Grateful Goat Vineyards, River City, Harmony, Rettig Hill, Turtle Run, Huber, Oliver, and Owen Valley will be part of the annual WFYI Indy Winefest on Saturday March 1st. Easley Winery plans to pour its award winning Traminette and samples of fan favorites including Reggae Red and a new Chardonnay. Tix available on line for the March 1st event at Crowne Plaza Union Station in downtown Indy. www.wfyi.org
What's up with Indiana wineries and the legislature this year? Experts say discussions about allowing wineries to wholesale its own wines without going thru a distributor and creating tax breaks and support to encourage more farmers to grow wine grapes in the state.
February is "Go RED" month for the American Heart Association as it raises awareness and reaches out to WOMEN to take care of their hearts and not just those of the many that they care for each day. Some "RED FRIENDLY" wines include Colby Red, Cosentino Ol Red, 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red. All available at local wine shoppes and offer up smooth, juicy, low tannin, high pleasure, red fruit flavors.
