Swig EP Release Party with The Kickaways, Dell Zell, No Pit Cherries
Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Melody Inn
3826 N. Illinois St
21+, doors 8:00, show 9:00, $5
When I got an e-mail from Swig describing their band as, "the sexy stoner rock band that Indianapolis has been missing," I knew that I had to explore their music. Mostly because I've never thought of sexy and stoner belonging in the same sentence. The message also said that, "Swig offers a unique blend of Indie-Rock and Blues permeated with deep grooves, impassioned vocals and smoky, sultry, undertones." And they sure do.
The trio is celebrating the release of their EP and will be joined by stellar lineup of bands. They will be appearing with The Kickaways (Cincinnati OH), Dell Zell and No Pit Cherries. The show promises to be great!

Not-for-profit director by day, music writer by night, Nora Spitznogle reviews music that happened and previews music and events around Broad Ripple Village. Nora managed CATH Inc coffeehouse at 54th Street and College Avenue for seven years. During that time she hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians, both at the coffeehouse and her home. When CATH closed in 2004 and the music was no longer coming to her, she had to wander from her corner of Broad Ripple to see what is happening elsewhere. You can find her at Second Helpings during the work day, waitressing at the Red Key on Saturday nights and prowling Broad Ripple music venues the rest of the time.
