The Good Earth Natural Food Co. opened shop in June of 1971. A converted 19th Century house that rests alongside the Central Canal in Broad Ripple Village has been the heart of a healthy community spanning 4 decades.

1974 marked the first year that a man by the name of Bob Landman stepped into The Good Earth. Like many he came to the store as a shopper of alternative products. From Shopper he became an Employee and eventually, Owner. For the next 34 years "Sugarbob" Landman worked 7 days a week building a store that wasn't just Natural Food, but so much more! He Literally brought Organic Produce to Indianapolis driving to the airport to pickup Fresh Fruits & Veggies from California. Landman introduced Central Indiana first to Kalso Earth Shoes and next Birkenstock Sandals. He was a visionary in terms of building relationships with Local Farmers and Artisans and of course his Beloved Customers. Sugarbob would greet shoppers of his store with a wry smile and a new song everyday! There was never a dull moment at Good Earth.

Sadly and quite unexpectedly Bob Landman passed away December 6, 2008. For the next week and month and even years to come, patrons of the Good Earth would stop in to pass along a song or a story about their friend, Sugarbob. The thread that connected each of these stories was the unabashed Joy of living each and every day to its fullest potential! This Joy was contagious and has filled Good Earth since his untimely departure.

Good Earth has been Family-Owned & Operated as an Independent and Fiercely-Local Health Store for the the past 41 years! We will Continue to serve this Community for years to come. Thank you for your patronage!
