The July Broad Ripple Village Association's [BRVA] Business Division [BizDiv] meeting was held at brics (Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station) located at 901 E. 64th Street [E5 on map]. This special evening meeting brought out several new attendees. brics treated the group to free ice cream!

The meeting was run by Justin McKeand and Christen Wall. The first item on the agenda was a discussion about permits for closing the streets of Broad Ripple for events. The BRVA is working with the appropriate city departments to develop a plan to minimize the loss of sales at local businesses due to street closures. Justin asked for business owners to contact the BRVA with comments about events in the Village, past and future. The BRVA will compile those comments and make sure they get to the proper city official.

Next was an explanation of the upcoming survey by the BRVA to find out what residents and businesses want from the neighborhood organization, and why (or why don't) they attend BRVA meetings. The survey is expected mid-August.

Justin asked for ideas for speakers at upcoming BizDiv meetings. Those suggestions can be sent to the new email address bizdiv@brva.org

A listing of upcoming Village events was presented. The Broad Ripple Sidewalk Sale will be Sunday, August 5, 2012, from 9 am to 2 pm. The Ripple Effect Run will be Sunday, September 2, 2012, at 7 pm. Volunteers for the run can contact the BRVA. The Broad Ripple Historic Home Tour will be Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 10 am. While all of the home sponsorships are taken, there are many other sponsorship opportunities for local businesses.

The next BizDiv meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 8:30 am at Union Jack Pub, 924 Broad Ripple Avenue [H5 on map].
