Random Rippling - Spades Library celebrates centennial
posted: Mar. 30, 2012
The Spades Park Branch of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library celebrated 100 years on March 24, 2012. The library is located at 1801 Nowland Avenue next to Spades Park, about 20 blocks south of the Fairgrounds. The land for the park and the library was donated by Michael Spades, and the building by Andrew Carnegie. It is one of two remaining Carnegie libraries of the six originals in the city. It is a piece of history that is worth the short drive from Broad Ripple to check out.
