The Center for Focused Inquiry- School 84, through the Dad's Club, held a food drive to benefit Gleaners during January. In just two weeks the students gathered 3,361 pounds of donated canned goods, pasta products and rice.

Dads' Club member Sloan McCord organized the food drive as a friendly competition among the classes. Each room was provided a bin to fill with donations. The first prize was a pizza party, won by the seventh grade which raised 380 donated items. The second prize was to be a "wear jeans day," for the class with the second highest donation count. Since all of the classes filled their bins so completely the school declared a jeans day for all students.
