Poetic Thoughts - A Mystic Blend - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Jan. 20, 2012
The following poem was penned as I was experimenting with Jean Michel Basquiat's strategy of using multiple sources for creative input. I was spinning Van Morrison's Moondance CD as I watched Hemplands, a short documentary which aired on PBS in 1998. I bought Hemplands at Goodwill for a dollar. Truly a great find.
As Van's Into The Mystic came on I knew I was ready to write poetry. That song often makes my brain feel soft and mushy and ready to write poetry.
A Mystic Blend
We
roll
stroll
blow
flow
into the Mystic
there is no other
space like it
place like it
on the planet
or on others
sisters and brothers
arise from
the scent of
the Mystic
the intoxicating aroma
helps us to
gently float
into the Mystic
