2011 Midtown Holiday Home Tour & Market
posted: Nov. 11, 2011

The Holiday Home Tour has a rich history in the Midtown neighborhoods of Broad Ripple, Butler-Tarkington, Mapleton-Fall Creek, Meridian-Kessler and the North Meridian Street Historic District. Sponsored for many years by the Easter Seals Crossroads Guild, the tour began a new era last year as the Midtown Holiday Home Tour.
Each home is decorated by a local florist, working closely with the homeowners to reflect their personal style. This Midtown tradition has helped families begin their holiday seasons for over 30 years. This year's tour will be November 12 & 13, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Order tickets in advance for $12. More information at www.midtownindy.org. Tickets are $15 day of the tour at the Holiday Market or any featured home.
Featured Homes: David & Shannon Forsell at 3539 Watson Road-Although Tudor at its core, this home incorporates traces of Arts and Crafts, Neo-Classical and even Gothic design. The Forsell home includes a piano believed to have been built into the house in 1926. Ken Johnson & Aren Fowley at 3702 N. Central Avenue-This grand Georgian-style home was built in 1929 and completely updated in 2010. The floor plan was altered to create a spacious, modern kitchen and a large master suite. Dr. John & Elaine Klein at 4343 N. Meridian Street-Formerly the Governor's Residence, this home has an interesting history as well as an elaborate architectural detail and elegant décor. Don & Teresa Altemeyer at 5601 N. Washington Boulevard-This sleek, contemporary-looking home was actually built in 1937, incorporating both Bauhaus International and Art Moderne styles. Jim & Cindee Fisher at 5643 N. Washington Boulevard-This classic Tudor still has its original footprint but has many stylish updates, including a new kitchen and beautiful landscaping.
Also on the same days and times is the Midtown Holiday Market at the Riviera Club located at 5640 North Illinois Street. The market is free and open to the public. Looking for the perfect holiday gifts? Get a jump on your shopping while supporting local artists and merchants. The second annual Holiday Market is filled with unique merchandise for your friends, family and you. Relax with soup, sandwiches and dessert or join us for the monthly Rivi Brunch Sunday 11-2. Midtown musicians will get you in the holiday mood.
Very Special Arts of Indiana will be at the Midtown Holiday Market offering their work for sale. VSA Indiana provides access to lifelong learning and expression through the arts for people with disabilities.
