GUZZLERS for GOBBLERS:
I had the great pleasure of traveling to both Portugal and the Languedoc region of France this year as well as California so it's no surprise that my "Thanks"giving wines would be from those areas. Great values, wonderful flavors and perfect with poultry. Here is a list of some of those wines and a few others from around the world to consider serving and enjoying this Thanksgiving.

White Wines:
Gazella Vinho Verde, Portugal- subtle fizz, light, off dry, crisp. Great with Roast Turkey and mashed potatoes and even stands up to cranberry relish.
Cruzeiro Brancho Vinho Verde, Portugal-this off dry white has a hint more fruitiness and a tad less fizz than the Gazella but also a perfect pair for the Thanksgiving table.
Broadbent Vinho Verde, Portugal-light, dry, crisp with enchanting aromas and flavors of white peach. Would be terrific with smoked or cajun style turkey.
Hugo Gruner Veltliner, Austria-crisp, dry, notes of citrus. Superb with the bird cooked in any style and even those candied yams.
Finis Terra White, Portugal-dry white blend that is EZ drinking and great value. If you are deep frying your bird this would make a refreshing beverage.
Dry Creek Vineyards, Chenin Blanc, California-lovely smooth, dry with notes of mango and tangerine. Superb with oven roasted turkey.
McManis Viognier, California-exotic nose of Asian Five Spice powder, smooth, silky finish. Delicious with Thanksgiving turkey or holiday ham.
Claar Cellars, Unoaked Chardonnay, Washington-clean, fresh notes of apple, pear and mineral finish. Perfect white for a traditional turkey.

Red Wines:
Colby Red, California-EZ drinking blend of red grapes. A wine spearheaded by California teenager Colby Groom who survived 2 back to back open heart surgeries before his 10th birthday. His dad is winemaker Daryl Groom and together they created this delicious, full bodied red wine with proceeds from bottles sales going to fund heart health & research. Possibly the perfect "thanksgiving" wine as Colby's gesture is one of thanks to those who saved his life.
Chateau des Karantes Rose, France-A sophisticated blend of grenache, syrah and mouvedre is done in a dry style with notes of black fruit and spice. Fantastic with any style of turkey. And yes, it IS a rose. See, they don't all taste sweet!
Crios Rose of Malbec, Argentina-Bone dry, crisp, pink wine. Notes of black fruit and clean finish. Great glass for deep fried turkey. Or beef tenderloin if you decide to ditch the whole bird idea.
Jardiniere "Rosie the Riveter" Dry Rose, Oregon-delightful pink wine from Pinot Noir with fresh aromas and flavors of wild strawberries and raspberries. Goes well with any style of turkey.
Finis Terra Red, Portugal-Another amazing food wine and value. Medium bodied, EZ drinking blend of red grapes with hints of black fruit and spice. Roast, grilled or deep fried turkey begs for this bottle.
La Marouette Pinot Noir, France-earthy but elegant with notes of wild red fruit. Dry and smooth and delicious with roast or smoked turkey.
Mc Manis Pinot Noir, California-great value and well structured yet EZ drinking Pinot Noir. Enjoy with turkey, salmon, duck or venison.
Santa Alicia Carmenere, Chile-rustic with notes of smoky, spicy red fruit-dry yet smooth. Another great red for wild game.
