Poetic Thoughts - When - by C.W. Pruitt II

When
Ever since Jim Hahn gave me his DVD/VHS combo I have been watching the first two seasons of Northern Exposure. An episode in season two finishes with Nat King Cole's trio playing "When I Grow Too Old To Dream" on the radio. Chris (The DJ) dedicated the song to Maggie who kissed him and gave him back his voice. During the song Ed stops to help a man on the side of the road who appears to be his long lost father. The Indian spirit "One Who Waits" has been helping Ed search for his father. Incidentally, "One Who Waits" prefers to be called a spirit, rather that a ghost.
When
life is but a series of memories
that clamor for attention
to be remembered,
cherished, and recounted
I will recall you
with joy and I will
cling to it
for there is nothing
left to look forward to
