Poetic Thoughts - To Denise and Kyle - by C.W. Pruitt II

I composed the poem below for Kyle Andrews' wedding last summer. In assembling it, I started and re-started it about 20 times.

Then I read it to Kyle and Denise (his fiancée). I was not feeling great about it as a final version. Kyle thought that it could do (Kyle a better poet than me). Denise just loved it! This was great for me, so I wouldn't torture myself with a revision. And after all, the bride is the most important element of a wedding. Contemplating this made me happy.

The poem speaks of re-union because the couple dated twenty some years ago before re-uniting. The poem also references James Whitcomb Riley because the wedding was held in Greenfield.

To Denise and Kyle

A break in love

leading to re-union in

heart and mind

may make the value

of such a find

discovery of old spark,

re-kindled to a blaze

we witness in amaze

meant as a small miracle

life's twists and turns

brought forth thru

God's sweet grace

evinced from bride's

beauty-filled face

the groom a great

friend to this here

awe struck mid age boy

sharing in the

warm celestial joy

this small crowd

in J. Riley's birth town

the bard of great renown

would struggle with

the words - i am sure

describing love's sweet

and strong return
