The Broad Ripple Community Flag Day Retirement Ceremony was held on June 18, 2011, at the Robert E. Kennington American Legion Post 34 at 6440 Westfield Boulevard. The US Marine Corps Color Guard opened the ceremony that included special guests Brigadier General J. Stewart Goodwin, Lance Corporal Josh Bleill, and Veteran Service Officer Russ Eaglin. The close of the ceremony was the burning of two retired flags. A free buffet lunch was offered to all attendees.
