April Zoning meeting had three cases
by Alan Hague
posted: May 13, 2011

The April meeting of the Broad Ripple Village Association Land Use and Development Committee was held at Broad Ripple United Methodist Church on April 26, 2011. Three petitions were on the agenda.
First was for Barley Island located at 701 Broad Ripple Avenue. Barley Island is asking the Marion County Alcoholic Beverage Board to change from a 2-way (beer and wine) permit to a 3-way (beer, wine, and liquor) permit. The reason given is that to remain competitive, the restaurant needs to have the same level of permit as do the surrounding restaurants. An agreement was reached that limits the use of this 3-way permit. The permit can be used so long as this address houses a family, smoke-free restaurant.
The second on the agenda was for the property at 1904 Broad Ripple Avenue. This has been the home to the Tin Star Restaurant, Pizza King, and the Red Eye. Boogie Burger, the next tenant, has filed zoning variance request 2011-UV2-007 with the City of Indianapolis to build a 360 square foot covered deck on the west side of the building.
The last item on the agenda was for the property located at 6345 Carrollton Avenue. This is currently the Ideal Water company. Scofield Editorial will be moving their offices/studios into this space. Petition 2011-DV3-014 is to add a 2,400 square foot addition to the building.
The next meeting of the committee will be May 24, 2011, at 6pm at the church.
