SPRING FLING

Time to wake up the palate with NEW, FUN and AFFORDABLE wine finds. Here are a few of my favorites:
WHITES:
2009 Sula Vineyards Chenin Blanc, India - Yes, INDIA! Fruity, with aromas of peach and honeysuckle and touch of lingering sweetness. Try it with spicy Thai or Easter ham. Great label too.
2009 Beso de Vino Macabeo, Spain - The name means "kiss of wine"; CUTE label with cartoon like bull sipping from a glass; macabeo is also viura so has tropical fruit notes, medium bodied, mostly dry and VERY easy to drink.
2009 Vinum Cellars Chenin Blanc/Viognier, California - Another great wine for Easter dinner. Lovely blend with exotic nose and crisp, tropical, citrus fruit flavors. Very smooth.
2009 Emina Verdejo, Spain - Think of this is a Spanish sauvignon blanc. The Verdejo grape has enticing grassy, lime notes. Great with grilled chicken or fish.
2009 Cote Est Catalan, Spain - Elegant dry white blend of white grenache, chardonnay and marsanne. Smooth, rich, and a fabulous food wine.
REDS:
2005 Madiran 1907 Tannat, France - Earthy, rustic dry red from the foot of the Pyrenees mountains. Bring on the BBQ!
2009 Pueblo del Sol Tannat, Uruguay - Yes, from URUGUAY! Another up and coming grape growing region. Lots of dark fruit and rustic notes in this very dry red. Bring on the beef.
2005 Cyan Tinta de Toro, Spain - Big, bold blend of red grapes from the Toro region. Tons of chewy black fruit. WOW!
2008 Dante Robino Bonarda, Argentina - Another terrific rich, dry red wine for beef on the grill.
2009 Beso de Vino Seccion, Spain - Lush red blend of syrah and grenache with notes of spice, mocha and dark fruit. Yummy!!
2009 Peique Tinto Mencia, Spain - Another unusual grape from Spain (mencia); spicy, chewy, earthy. Like new red wine finds? Then give this one a try.
