Random Rippling - Rainbow bridge rehab scheduled
posted: Apr. 01, 2011
The rehabilitation of the Rainbow bridge on Guilford Avenue that spans the Central Canal is schedule to begin in mid May. The bridge is planned to be completely closed to all traffic, vehicular and pedestrian, for four months.
In addition to the structural repairs, most of which are on the underside of the bridge, the side rails will be brought to current standards. Code specifies that bridge sidewalls be at least 3.5 feet high. The rails will be removed and reset into a new concrete base that will bring them to the required height.
