Random Rippling - Journey: The Paintings and Prints of Doris J. Brinkman
by Alan Hague
posted: Feb. 18, 2011

A retrospective exhibition of the work of Doris J. Brinkman will be shown at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, 615 W 43rd Street, February 14 through March 13. Open on Sundays before and after the 10:30 a.m. service or by appointment. Contact Wendy Dougherty 317 255-7039.
Brinkman's evocative work often merges landscape with the human form, drawing the viewer into its mystery. The textures of rocks or twining tree branches serve as starting points for inner journeys. With closer examination, the images yield new discoveries and deeper meanings.
Doris Brinkman graduated from Herron School of Art and taught for 25 years in the Indianapolis Public Schools, the majority of that time at Broad Ripple High School.
