The Wine Scene - by Jill A. Ditmire

Wine Scene header

Its that time of year. Tricks or treats galore. Your choice. This week I am suggesting a few treats. But there is a trick. And that is getting your tickets for the Taste of Tuscany event detailed below and purchasing the Halloween Wines listed before they "vanish"...

LIVE LA DOLCE VITA at TASTE OF TUSCANY
One of the best wine tasting events in the city is just a few weeks away.
The Taste of Tuscany takes place on Friday November 5 from 7-11pm at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. It's an evening of fine Italian wine, food, music, art and giving! The Totally Tuscan experience benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana to continue its mission of offering support and services to families with critically ill or injured children at Riley Hospital for Children and other Indianapolis-area hospitals. Ronald McDonald House is one of the last TRUE groups that literally uses all funds raised to help its mission. And what a mission. If you or anyone you know has had a child in the hospital, then you know the fear, the worry, the fatigue. RMH reaches out and soothes those pains for families.
And when RMH holds a fundraiser, the funds GO to that mission. Taste of Tuscany offers anyone who likes, loves or wants to try Italian wine and food an adventure of a lifetime-with no passport! (AND tickets are tax deductible!)
This is your chance to sample some of your favorite Italian varietals like Sangiovese (the grape used in Chianti) and some NEW varietals (Nero D'Avolo) and best of all you will sample wines from some of the premiere Italian Tenutas (winery's)
Sample Super Tuscan blends from Baglio de Pianetto, Ca'Marcanda and baby Brunello's from Il Poggione.
See why Soave is a super smooth white seducer and Moscato and Prosecco make glasses filled with glee.
Dozens of rare Italian wines will be available for you to try along with an array of sumptuous Italian food and desserts. And don't miss what has become a staple of the Taste of Tuscany event, the chocolate fountain!
Do your holiday shopping in the Euro Market and get your hands on some one of a kind items including trips, wine tastings and dining experiences.
Motorsport artist Bill Patterson will be painting LIVE that nite with the art being auctioned at the end of the evening. And word on the street is that a "special guest" with an Italian name and motorsport background will make a guest appearance at Taste of Tuscany.
Music is a big part of the nite too. Smooth jazz from Cathy Morris and danceable hot jazz from the Erick Storckman and the New York Jazz Ensemble.
For ticket information, (317) 267-0605, ext. 227 or visit www.rmh-indiana.org Don't miss this one.

HALLOWINE TIME
Find these bewitching bottles at local wine shoppes in the Indy area...if you dare.
Evil Chardonnay, Australia-Bright, fresh, crisp dry white with soft touch of vanilla oak and plenty of juicy tropical fruit flavors. Tasty with deep fried kidneys.
Evil Cabernet Sauvignon, Australia-bold, dense dry red bursts with black cherry, vanilla, soft tobacco and black pepper. Serve with grilled liver or poached tongue.
Vampire Pinot Noir, California-Easy drinking medium bodied red with lush cherry, raspberry and soft earthy notes. Sink your teeth into a glass or two with someone you love.
Dracula Syrah, California-Rich, lush, deep dark red wine with intense notes of black raspberry, black cherry, vanilla, ginger spice. DO NOT drink with garlic...
