Annual Fall Gallery Tour set for Oct 8
by Alan Hague
posted: Oct. 01, 2010

The Broad Ripple Village Association will host its annual Broad Ripple Fall Gallery Tour on Friday, October 8, 2010, from 5-9 pm. Once again, BRVA will partner with VSA Indiana (VSAI) and sell ceramics specially made for this event by their Urban Artisans vocational arts program. For fall, the Artisans have crafted soup and chili bowls which will sell for $5. VSAI, a statewide nonprofit which provides accessible arts programs for people with disabilities, has faced drastic budget cuts in the past year, and funds from Broad Ripple Gallery Tour sales will help them continue their valuable work of offering arts experiences for people with disabilities.
Nineteen Village galleries and boutiques will hold open houses with exhibits of original art: painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and other media by regionally and nationally known artists and artisans. New to the Fall tour, the canal-side restaurant Flatwater will participate with a show of local artists. Other participants are: Fine Estate Art and Rugs, Sigman's Gallery, The Bungalow, Inc., Addendum, Chelsea's, Artifacts, J. Rush Studios, Urban Optiks, Just Pop In!, Big Hat Art and Books, Marigold Contemporary Clothing, The Integrated Body Studio, Editions Ltd. Gallery of Fine Art, The Potter's House, Hoosier Salon Patrons Association and Fine Art Gallery, The Thompson Collection, Ashland Gallery/Stu's Studio, and Indianapolis Art Center Marilyn K. Glick School of Art.
A tour brochure with a map of the stops will be available in all participating galleries and shops, marked by a numbered sign in the window. Broad Ripple High School, a magnet for the arts, will provide student guides and performers for the event. The event is free. Come, meet friends, enjoy the art and camaraderie, and support the arts and VSAI.
Sponsored by: Union Jack Pub, Brothers Bar and Grill, The Corner Wine Bar, the Broad Ripple Village Association, and the participating galleries and shops.
