Poetic Thoughts - The Love of Francis - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Sept. 17, 2010

Poetic Thoughts header

I have read three biographies on St. Francis of Assisi. At some point I will probably read another one. I don't think that the life story of St. Francis will ever grow stale to me.
How a rich man's son could denounce the material world with words of Love inspires me. Francis seemed to use his poverty to fuel his blistering Christ Consciousness.
The brief poem below attempts to capture the intensity of his Love:

The Love of Francis

St. Francis became
grounded in
the manic Love
that was his
mental illness.
Then he set
Italy on fire.
