Summer Sippers: Swill and Grill
It's hot. Nothing else to do but enjoy the A/C inside and the grill outside with a bottle or two of tasty, affordable wine.
So this week, some suggestions.
You can find these bottles in wine shoppes around the Indianapolis area.

2009 Quintay "Clava" Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley, Chile--Burgundian style rich smooth dry red; enticing nose of wild red berries with hint of earthy, rustic terroir. Sear some tuna or salmon on the grill and indulge in wine pairing pleasure.
2007 Domaine Monte de Luz, Tannat-Cabernet Sauvignon, Uruguay-Bold, dry red blend. Black cherry, vanilla, tobacco, smooth, silky, long finish. The poster bottle for "all things beef".
2008 Ruta 22, Malbec, Patagonia-A big boy Malbec from Argentina. BIG aromas and flavors of wild blueberry, mulberry, white pepper. Bring on the BBQ ribs!
2008 La Fiera Montepulciano d' Abruzzo, Italy-Full bodied dry red bursts with blackberry, cherry, rustic powerful finish. Enjoy with anything Italian. On the plate or in person.
Le Lapin Speed Bump, Paso Robles, California-EZ drinking smooth dry red blend of Tempranillo and Alicante Bouchet. This could be your summer house red its that good and affordable.
2009 Barista Pinotage, South Africa-Nicknamed "Coffee Pinotage" as the nose smells like dark roast coffee beans; mocha and dark berry flavors in this full bodied dry red. Time for Chicken Mole or tamales, burritos or any other Southwest Tex Mex meal.
2008 Rabbit Ridge Grenache Rose, Paso Robles, California-Dry pink wine with spicy raspberry, black cherry aromas and flavors. yum. ANYTHING on the grill- pork, beef, chicken, fish. ANYTHING ordered by phone- pizza, sandwiches, Thai, Indian, Chinese. THE all around wine /food winner of Summer 2010!
2009 Le Drunk Rooster Chardonnay, Vin de Pays D'Oc-This medium bodied dry French white bursts with tropical fruit aromas and flavors, vanilla and soft kiss of butterscotch. Chicken of course! Grilled, fried, roasted or fajita'd!
2009 La Fiera Pinot Grigio, Italy-Inviting nose of granny smith apples, d'anjou pear, soft vanilla. Medium bodied EZ drinking dry white. Find your self some Shrimp Scampi or White Clam Sauced pasta and give your taste buds some "tiamo".
2009 Vin De Savoie "Abymes", France -Crisp, light, lovely dry white made from the Jacquere grape. Refreshing! Patio Pounder! ( i.e. find comfy lounge chair, hammock, glider. Open bottle. Enjoy bottle. Consume bottle!)
2009 Naire Verdejo, Spain-Great nose of mandarin orange, flavors continue crisp and dry in this delightful white wine. ANOTHER patio pounder...
