Broad Ripple Spring Gallery Tour Set for May 7
by Alan Hague
posted: Apr. 30, 2010

The Broad Ripple Village Association will host its annual Broad Ripple Spring Gallery Tour on Friday, May 7, 2010, from 5 to 9 p.m. The BRVA will again partner with VSAI and sell ceramics specially made for this event by their Urban Artisans. These will be colorful garden stakes, reasonably priced, just in time for special Mother's Day gifts. VSAI has faced drastic budget cuts in the past year, and funds from Broad Ripple Gallery Tour sales will help them continue their valuable work of offering arts experiences for people with disabilities.
Seventeen galleries and boutiques will hold open houses at their establishments on the evening of May 7, 2010. Exhibits of original art include painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and other media created by regionally and nationally known artists and artisans. Two new destinations on the tour this year are the Broad Ripple Animal Wellness Center at the corner of Kessler Boulevard and College Avenue, featuring the art of their talented staff, and Just Pop In! on Cornell Avenue, with an exhibit of the work of VSAI Urban Artisan Joe McDaniel.
A tour brochure with a map of the destinations will be available in all participating galleries and shops, marked by a numbered sign in the window. Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Arts and Humanities will provide student guides and performers for the event. Complimentary refreshments and free horsedrawn carriage rides on Village streets will be available to tour goers.
The Friday evening event is free. Come, enjoy the art, meet friends, and support the arts and VSAI.
