posted: Feb. 05, 2010

The Indianapolis Art Center (IAC) recently received a grant from the Rotary Foundation of Indianapolis. The money will support the IAC ArtReach program.
"ArtReach is a neighborhood-based arts education program serving youth ages 5 to 18 living in underserved areas throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Since 1989, the ArtReach program has provided multi-service, community and family centers, churches, schools, and housing cooperatives with year-round art instruction facilitated by professional artists. Artists visit these sites lending their skills and talents to the children while serving as caring adult role models."
The Rotary Foundation of Indianapolis was started by the Indianapolis Rotary Club in 1947 and is funded by Indianapolis Rotarians. More than 76% of organizations submitting letters of intent for the latest round of grants were the beneficiaries of the grants awarded on January 19, 2010. With a philosophy of "Service Above Self", The Rotary Foundation of Indianapolis supports a wide variety of community organizations.
The Rotary Foundation of Indianapolis funds approximately $300,000 annually to important community projects and programs. Since 1993, the Foundation has made over 800 awards totaling over $3.7 million to local organizations and Rotary Club of Indianapolis committee sponsored projects. www.indyrotary.org/content/rotary-foundation-indianapolis
