Yogurt Village offers locally produced dairy products. They opened in late May at 916 Westfield Boulevard.
"We buy a lot of our toppings from local businesses, including granola chips from Whole Foods," explained Kelsey, an employee at their Broad Ripple area store. "We try to change flavors weekly and with the seasons. During Halloween, we sold pumpkin flavored yogurt and during Christmas, we offered eggnog-flavored yogurt. Most of our yogurt is non-fat, low-fat or organic in some cases. We also make (waffle) cones ourselves," she added. Non-fat yogurt is 100 calories per serving while low-fat yogurt is 120 calories.
Her co-worker, Daniel Stein, said, "We sell nine different types of yogurt daily, and have a total of 45 different toppings that include candies, chocolates and fruits."
Yogurt is sold by weight at $.48 per ounce with no charge for toppings, where customers can choose over three dozen varieties. Their most popular flavors are Banana, Boysenberry, Cheesecake, Coconut, Dutch Chocolate, Mocha, Strawberry and Vanilla. Tart N' Tangy and Pomegranate are organic.
Beverages on their menu include Smoothies, Izzy's Natural Soda, Venga and bottled water. Smoothie flavors include Berry Explosions, Berry Peachy, Peanut Butter & Banana, Tangy Strawberry and Tropical.
Broad Ripple area businesses can receive a 20% discount on their purchases.
Barb Siegel, owner of Yogurt Village, also owns the Green Gourmet that caters lunches to private area schools and Gourmet Franks, located at the same address. They sell healthy hot dogs made of chicken, turkey and beef containing high protein with low fat, low calories and low sodium. Some of their popular items are Chicago Vienna Beef and vegetarian hot dogs.
The Yogurt Village offers a variety of cool treats whose flavors vary with the seasons. Their website is currently being developed, though customers can call 252-5790 for more information about these and other menu items.
