Joyce Sommers retires from Art Center
posted: Jul. 10, 2009
A going-away party was held for exiting Indianapolis Art Center director Joyce Sommers on June 28, 2009. It was an afternoon of applause, laughter, and tears.
Joyce's cousin John Edwards unveiled his portrait of her.
Carter Wolf, previous executive director of the Horizon House, will take over as the IAC's leader.
The party also served as the opening of the George Rickey exhibition at IAC. George's son Phil spoke about his father's artwork. The exhibition features works from throughout Rickey's career, including five kinetic sculptures in ARTSPARK. There are ten more of his sculptures placed around downtown Indianapolis.
