Random Rippling - US Flag retirement at Post wrapped up flag week
posted: Jun. 26, 2009
American Legion Post #34, located at 65th and Westfield Boulevard, held their annual flag retirement ceremony. After a reenactment musket salute, a ceremonial flag was inspected by the Post officers, deemed unserviceable, and burned appropriately. The bulk of the retired flags were burned later courtesy of Flanner and Buchanan. The ceremony was ended with the release of twelve white doves. The attendees then enjoyed a complimentary picnic lunch.
