Random Rippling - Santa and ISBVI at Tree lighting

The Broad Ripple firehouse was the site of the 2008 Village tree lighting ceremony. Hubbard & Cravens Coffee Co provided coffee and cocoa in the firehouse kitchen. Station 32 Captain Gregg Harris handed out plastic fire helmets to the kids and gave tours of the station.

Outgoing Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA) president Ellen Morley Matthews introduced the choir from the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI). The choir entertained the crowd with several songs.
BRVA board director Elizabeth Marshall drew a winner for the punch card contest - Jamie Fryear. Shoppers could pick up punch cards stating during the Holiday Preview Party and after visiting all of the establishments on the card could enter a drawing for a Broad Ripple shopping prize package.
Attendees were invited to go online to vote for the best lights displays in the Lights Up contest. Participating homes can be seen at www.discoverbroadripplevillage.com.
Next, Santa appeared and talked with the children. Moments later there was a countdown and the Christmas tree, donated by M&I Bank, was lit.
The KRS Trio performed before the tree lighting.
Kids received coloring books and helmets.
The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired performed at the Lights Up ceremony.
I believe this may have been the youngest attendee at the tree lighting.
