My daughter works for Disney, so last week the three of us went to visit the "happiest place on earth". The cast members at Disney do go the extra mile for their customers, and try their best to ensure that everyone has a good time. The cast members are trained very well in the art of smiling and appearing joyful. It is quite delightful to spend time in a place where the good guy always wins, the princess finds her prince, and fairy tales do indeed come true.

The whole idea of having a "happy place" is quite appealing to most of us, but even at Disney it was easy to witness upset people and many tired, irritable, and crying children.

I see a lot of people who try to find happiness in numerous ways, but the truth of the matter is that God did not promise that we would always be happy. What He does promise is that He will be there to walk with us through both the good times and the bad. God promises that He will always be with us and never forsake us.

Could it be possible that if we work at being good people instead of trying to always be happy that the happiness would take care of itself? Walk these next couple of weeks with the awareness of God's presence, be the best person you can be doing as much good as you possibly can, and then see if happiness finds you.
