posted: Oct. 24, 2008

Site based decision making (SBDM) is a process that aims at improving the quality of the education offered to our students at Broad Ripple High School, by involving more stake holders in decision making. It is a chance for anyone who is interested to see how the school functions, as with all school meeting these meetings are open to all, however if you wish to speak or propose any changes or ideas you need to contact the committee prior to the meeting. Our SBDM is made up of 8 teachers, an administrator, 2 support staff members, 2 students (yet to be elected), 2 parents and 2 community members.
The purpose of the Broad Ripple High School SBDM Committee is to address the academic, social and emotional needs of our students by setting school policy and making other required decisions that will enhance student achievement and help each student meet the goals established by the school district's Academic Achievement Plan. The School Based Decision Making Committee shall be responsible for coordinating the work of the various subcommittees to prepare the school's School Improvement Plan (SIP). The school committee shall be responsible seeking the input of all concerned participants in the creation of the schools SIP and recommending to the educators at Broad Ripple High School the School Improvement Plan for ratification. The SBDM committee will assess, monitor, and evaluate the school's progress toward the achievement of goals set forth in the SIP. The SBDM committee shall also recommend policies and programs to the educators at the school for their ratification. The committee will assess, monitor, and evaluate the policies and programs that are adopted. The committee shall create an environment that will enhance student achievement in the school.
SBDM is your chance to have a voice in what happens at Broad Ripple High School. If we want to make things better for students, teachers, administrators and the community, we need to be involved, your attendance and input is welcome at all SBDM meetings.
The meetings are held on Tuesdays, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, in room G106
