Howling at the Moon header

I couldn't resist the cute picture below. It might answer the question, from a fellow columnist......what's in Heidi's purse? There's no question cats are curious and get into all kinds of things and all kinds of trouble. One day, years ago, I was in the basement doing laundry. I was busy pulling the heavy, wet clothes out of the washer and tossing them into the dryer. I also tossed in a pair of tennis shoes, slammed the dryer door and went upstairs. It couldn't have been more than a minute but I thought the tennis shoes were really banging around loud so I decided to go back down and check it out. I opened the dryer door and my cat came flying out all puffed up hugely, hissing and ran dizzily under a chair. Boy was he mad! Thank goodness I went down to check! It was bad enough he spun around in the dryer for a minute or so but it was added insult that he was being slammed into by tennis shoes. I can't believe he didn't get hurt. Learning from that, there is not a single time I do laundry that I don't check the dryer to see if a cat hasn't crawled in to check it out. About a month ago the cat I adopted last summer jumped in and I caught her before I turned it on. I have also heard of a cat in a dishwasher.

It's time again to reunite a pet. At our corner at 49th & College a lovely gray marbled female cat has shown up at the back door of our store. She is not thin and so must have a home but because she has no identification no one knows where she lives. She has decided this location is pretty good. The Paw Patch gave her a free exam and was prepared to spay her but discovered she already was. She is in good health. She is declawed and very loving. The photographer upstairs, Claire, put out a litter box, food and a bed and I gave her a free collar so she would not look like a stray and get taken to Animal Control. Now she lays around on the back picnic table and begs for attention. She loves everyone. She needs to go home so maybe you know of her and can help.
June is National Adopt A Cat Month. Pets make you smile.
