The 2008 Ripples will be presented at Broad Ripple High School, located at 1115 Broad Ripple Avenue, on April 18 and 19. The performances are at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Ripples are student written and directed plays. Here are this year's offerings:

A group of different kinds of dogs are staying at a dog hotel when a group of cats seizes their supervisor and takes over. The protagonist has an obsession with the stock market, so when he and his friends escape, the only place they can think to go to is New York. After encountering some talking road kill (at the start of their journey) that informs them that New York has been completely taken over by cats, they are conveniently introduced to a portal to New York. Once in New York, the dogs defeat the cat boss Fluffums and the world returns to normal. All fine and dandy, except the main character realizes that he can't work on the stock market because he's a dog. Oh yeah, and George Clinton shows up twice throughout the play to ask the audience what the main characters should do.

Once upon a shimmering day, there was a mighty legend named Long John Silver. He was the definition of bravery and charm. He did pirate things with his pirate friends and avoided non-pirate things. He never did anything wrong nor did he ever break any of the rules. Until one day he fell in love with Aquafina, a mermaid, which changed his life. He was shunned from Laguna Beach and told to walk the plank. He quickly ran away to his love and protected her from danger. At the end, someone who planned to destroy Aquafina's life ended up blessing her life instead.

Professor Anthony Plateau's experiments never go as planned. At the peak of his successes something always goes wrong. His latest experiment finally reaches new heights until Subject #11 wakes and makes a HUGE scene. The professor orders his army of sexy androids to put Subject #11 to sleep so he can continue with his evil scheme. The androids follow through but the professor must make haste for an emergency. After only a few seconds two spies bust through into an empty laboratory. After only a minute or two of searching, Subject #11 wakes up yet again setting off a series of events leading to the professor's demise.
